Nyköping has become an important travel hub, thanks to Stockholm South (Skavsta) airport. Scandic Nyköping City has undergone major renovations to improve the hotel and create a modern atmosphere suited for today's efficient travelers. The interior design is intended to mirror the romance and adventure of travel. Twenty-four-hour service and a boutique stocked with most anything a traveler may need are just two examples of improvements. The intent is to offer the same first-class service to everyone, guests with very early departures as well as travelers with late arrivals. Actually, the entire concept has more in common with an airport lounge than with a traditional hotel.
Even though the hotel’s services have been updated to fit our times and today's travelers, the interior design has received much inspiration from the past, a past when air-travel seemed romantic and exotic. Therefore, the reception, bar, and restaurant are all decorated with nostalgic images mixed with modern design and interesting props.
The company behind the concept and interior design is Gothenburg-based Stylt Trampoli whose specialty is hotel and restaurant design. Their client list includes, among others, Hilton Trafalgar in London, Klaus K in Helsinki, and the Hard Rock Café in Oslo. |
